Net a Fish Pets and Companions

Checked

Pets in Net a Fish come out of two crates, Ocean and Abyss. You start with one pet slot, and the paid +1 Pet Slot pass doubles that. Crate odds, the full pet list and each pet's bonus numbers are not published anywhere we could check, so this page sticks to what the game and its pass descriptions actually state.

Where pets come from

The official listing names the source in one line: hatch pets from Ocean and Abyss Crates. Both crates appear in the in-game shop next to the passes, and a recorded session buys an Abyss Crate and an Ocean Crate back to back, with the pet landing directly in the pet slot rather than an inventory.

The crates are not the same thing as the fish you catch. A net cast brings up fish, a crate brings up a pet. If you are chasing a specific pet, you are rolling a crate, not fishing.

What a pet actually does

Two effects are stated outright in the game's own pass text: pets hunt fish for you, and each pet carries a money bonus that stacks with the next pet's bonus. That is the whole documented contract. How much a given pet adds, and whether a rarer pet rolls a bigger bonus, is not stated.

What that means for a new player is narrow but useful. A pet is passive income and a second catcher, not a stat you pick for a boss. If you are choosing between a pet pass and a net upgrade, the net changes what you catch on every single cast and the pet changes what happens while you are not casting.

Pet slots and the +1 Pet Slot pass

One slot is the default. The pass description is unusually specific for a Roblox pass, so quote-level detail is worth keeping:

Have TWO pets out at once: both hunt fish for you, and the second pet's money bonus adds to the first!

Two things follow. First, the pass is worth more to a player who already has a good pet, because the second slot multiplies an existing bonus rather than creating one. Second, buying the pass before you have a second pet does nothing.

The pass price is not exposed by the Roblox API we can read, so this page does not quote one. Check the in-game shop.

Pets are not helpers

New players mix these up because both are "things that fish for you". They are different systems with different upgrades.

Thing Where it comes from What improves it
Helper: Fisherman, Spear Gun, Boat Bought and upgraded at your dock Helper upgrades; Helpers Luck pass (2x luck for all helpers)
Pet Ocean or Abyss Crate +1 Pet Slot pass for a second body; rarity of the pet itself

Helpers Luck explicitly lists Spear Gun, Fisherman and Boat. It does not mention pets. If you bought Helpers Luck expecting better crate luck, that is not what its text promises.

What we could not confirm

  • Crate odds for either Ocean or Abyss.
  • The full pet roster and each pet's bonus percentage.
  • Whether pets can be upgraded, fused or levelled.
  • The +1 Pet Slot price.

We are not going to invent a tier list out of partial reads. When a crate-opening session or an official odds table is available, this page gets the table it currently lacks. Until then, treat any pet ranking you see elsewhere as someone else's sample, not a rule.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get pets in Net a Fish?

Hatch them from Ocean Crates and Abyss Crates. The official description names both crates; the recorded sessions show a crate being bought and opened from the shop.

Can you have more than one pet out?

Yes, with the +1 Pet Slot pass. Its official description says you can have two pets out at once and that the second pet's money bonus adds to the first.

Do pets replace helpers?

No. Fisherman, Spear Gun and Boat are helpers that the Helpers Luck pass improves. Pets come from crates and are a separate system.
