Where the money actually comes from
| Line | What it pays | Runs while offline |
|---|---|---|
| Codes | A lump sum per code | No |
| Showcase | Cash per second per placed fish | Yes |
| Selling fish | Cash per fish at the cooler | No |
| Index rewards | Cash per new species collected | No |
| Multipliers | Doubles or percentages on the above | Yes, if the line is passive |
Only one of these keeps running when you close the game. That is why every stage below ends by asking whether the showcase got stronger.
Stage 1: codes and the first showcase
Start with the codes. In a recorded session, two cash codes paid 621K and 931K within the first two minutes, which is more than the early upgrade tiers cost. That lump sum is the whole reason codes are the first stage.
Then open the showcase pool and drop your best fish into the first slot. That slot already exists, so nothing has to be bought first. Do not spend the code money on a helper yet: a fish sitting in the pool earns while you read the next paragraph.
Success signal: your cash counter moves without you touching anything.
Blocker: you sold your best fish. The showcase wants a fish, not cash. Keep one back.
Stage 2: fusion and index rewards
Two passive systems start paying at this point.
Fusion converts volume into tier: ten of a fish become a Shiny, eight Shiny become a Gold. Since showcase income tracks fish quality, a Gold in a slot beats ten commons in the cooler.
Index rewards pay per new species. Recorded sessions claim index rewards several times in one sitting, and the payout grows as the collection fills. This is the cheapest cash in the game because it needs no purchase, only casts in new water.
Success signal: your cooler has stacks of ten rather than a pile of singles, and the index counter has moved.
Blocker: auto sell configured too aggressively. If it sells everything, no stack ever reaches ten. Limit auto sell by rarity.
Stage 3: automation and offline income
Now the multipliers. In value order for a cash-focused player:
- 2x Money — doubles showcased fish income, the largest passive line.
- VIP — 10%+ money permanently, plus a free daily potion, and it stacks with the other passes.
- Extra Showcase (+3 slots) — three more income slots, but only worth it when you have three more fish worth showing.
- Offline Pro (+25%) — raises offline earning and extends collection to 24 hours.
- Auto Collect / Auto Throw — not multipliers, but they let the loop run without you, which is the same thing as income in practice.
Success signal: your cash per hour keeps rising on sessions where you do less.
Blocker: buying capacity before quality. A fourth showcase slot with a weak fish earns less than three slots with good ones.
What to stop doing
- Stop buying every upgrade the moment it is affordable. Watch which one changes your rarity spread instead.
- Stop selling fish you have ten of. That stack is a Shiny.
- Stop spending pearls on cosmetics while a showcase slot is empty. Pearls buy progress entries in the pearl shop; cosmetics are the least efficient of them.
- Stop farming a world that no longer pays. If the next upgrade costs more than a session earns, the rebirth is the better purchase.
The one-line version
Codes to start, showcase to keep earning, fusion and index to compound, multipliers last. If a session ends without a better fish in the showcase, the session did not make progress, whatever the cash counter said.
